Live Stream the 2017 Screen Actors Guild Awards

The 2017 SAG Awards will highlight the best performances in film and television from the past year. Here’s how to watch live.

With Oscar nominations coming out this week and the Golden Globes only slightly in the rearview mirror, film and tv connoisseurs and casual fans alike are still buzzing about this year’s top performances on the big and small screens.

Enter the Screen Actor’s Guild Awards. While not regarded as one of the industries’ biggest parties, the SAG Awards are still an excellent opportunity for movies and shows to collect some recognition.

Airing live from the Los Angeles Shrine Auditorium, coverage of the 23rd annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will begin at 5:30 p.m. EST with red carpet arrivals and the award show will start at 8:00 p.m. EST.

 

The front-runners in film and television are no surprise; Manchester by the Sea leads the pack with four nominations, followed by companion Oscar-nominees Moonlight and Fences, each up for three awards. In television, The Crown, Game of Thrones, Stranger Things, Westworld, and The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, are expected to clean up nicely.

Other notable nominees include Casey Affleck, double SAG Award nominee (“Outstanding Performance by a Male Lead in a Motion Picture” and “Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture”), and subject of scrutiny over sexual assault allegations, and Oscar-snubbed Amy Adams for “Outstanding Performance by a Female Lead” in Arrival.

Denzel Washington (Fences) and Ryan Gosling (La La Land) are also up for the SAG Awards “Outstanding Performance by a Male Lead,” as expected by the hype around both films. Viggo Mortensen (Captain Fantastic) and Andrew Garfield (Hacksaw Ridge) are also up for consideration. Emily Blunt (Girl on the Train), Natalie Portman (Jackie), Emma Stone (La La Land), Meryl Streep (Florence Foster Jenkins), and Oscar-snubbed Amy Adams (Arrival) are all up for “Outstanding Performance by a Female Lead.”

Along with Ali, Casey Affleck, Naomie Harris, Lucas Hedges, Taraji P. Henson, Brie Larson, Janelle Monáe, Viggo Mortensen, Octavia Spencer, and other celebs will present the 13 awards in film and television.

Additionally, during the show, Jane Fonda and Dolly Parton will present the SAG Life Achievement Award to Lily Tomlin, for her career achievements and humanitarian work. Tomlin, whose portfolio includes a Grammy, two Tony Awards (one for Lifetime Achievement), and six Emmy Awards, along with a Daytime Emmy, can now add “the performers union's most prestigious distinction” to her resume.

Mary Tyler Moore, who passed away this week at age 80, is also expected to be honored at the awards show.

 

So tune in for for the 53rd Screen Actors Guild Awards Sunday night, beginning with the red carpet at 5:30 p.m. ET, followed by the main event at 8:00 p.m. ET.
